If you're having trouble updating the firmware with the installer, you can try updating it with a USB instead. However, on July 11, 2023, ASUS released an updated version of firmware MCM104 that you can install via USB. Because it's an issue related to the installer, we would have experienced the same thing even with another unit of this monitor.įinally, we could update the firmware with a fifth PC, a basic desktop PC with Windows 11.

This issue is caused by the firmware installer not working with certain PCs, but we couldn't find any common aspects about the configurations of the first four PCs we tried that would explain this problem. Other people have noticed this online, as you can read more about it here and here. We looked into why none of those PCs worked, but we couldn't find anything unusual. We tried four different PCs, with Windows 10 and 11, and couldn't update the firmware using the ASUS installer. Note: We originally tested this monitor with firmware MCM102, as we couldn't update to any of the newer firmware, MCM103 or MCM104. It's advertised to use heatsink technology that's supposed to make the screen brighter than other monitors with the same panel, and it has features to help reduce the risk of permanent burn-in, like pixel cleaning and screen move options. However, because it's limited to HDMI 2.0 bandwidth, HDMI 2.1 sources, like current-gen gaming consoles, can't make full use of the monitor. It features FreeSync variable refresh rate (VRR) support with G-SYNC compatibility, so it can reduce screen tearing with any type of graphics card. Along with the Corsair XENEON 27QHD240, it's the main competitor to the LG 27GR95QE-B, as all three monitors use the same OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate. I know from experience with hdmi cables that one could be ok at 720p but would cause artifacts or not display picture at all when running higher resolution (cheap 3m/5m cables). The ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM is a 27-inch, 1440p gaming monitor. While DP1.2 have theoretically plenty of bandwith, this monitor will require a lot more from gpu and cables than the typical 1080p60 monitor. they claimed the monitor was doing very good in regards to RMAs, and I don't see why the dealer would have reason to lie about that. I switched cables with one of the other monitors and that would start flickering right away, got a new cable and haven't had a single issue since, great monitors.īefore I found the cable issue I was in contact with both the dealer and Asus. In my case a bad cable caused the monitor to flicker which then provoked what I believe to be the nvidia driver issue.

The messed up resolution/shifted pixels is almost certainly nvidia driver issue, it happens with other monitors and cards as well and more frequently in surround mode. Not sure if they hang together but again, any help is appreciated, thank you! On a side note, sometimes when I start up my computer it gets to the windows start up screen and then both screens lose signal and nothing happens, if I hit restart though I choose to start windows normally and there's no issues. Monitor 2: Samsung 1080p I got at best buy years agoĬPU: Intel i5-3570K 3.4 Ghz MB: ASRock Z77 If I try and switch the refresh rate on the swift monitor both screens go black and I have to reset.Īny suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The only fix is a full reboot of the computer at the moment. I've downloaded all the latest drivers that I could but nothing seems to help.

Here's a picture I took with my phone though. My old Samsung monitor stays completely unaffected though, so when I try to screen cap it and move the image over to my Samsung monitor, it looks completely fine. Sometimes, randomly, the screen goes black for a second and comes back and it almost looks like every other pixel has shifted one place up or down? Hey all, so I've had this monitor for about a month and placed it next to my old 1080p one.
